Tommy Lee TV Show Begins Filming
From www.rollingstone.com
Camera crews are set up in Tommy Lee's house, filming his almost every move for a VH1 reality
TV show. The project would see the former Motley Crue drummer following in the footsteps of
his pal Ozzy Osbourne, whose show The Osbournes is the highest rated show in MTV history.
(Other reality TV hopefuls include Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Brandy and Courtney Love.)
Unfortunately for Lee, the public's first glance into his home life was when an X-rated videotape
of him and then-wife Pamela Anderson was leaked to the Internet. Lee predicts that the show
will help clarify what his life is really like. "I'm a very hard working dude, a great
father [to his and Anderson's two sons, Brandon and Dylan], a singer, songwriter,
guitar player, drummer, producer, etc. . . . There are so many misconceptions."
Lee recently released his first solo album, Never a Dull Moment, the title a passing
reference to his legal troubles in recent years, his split with Motley Crue and his
and Anderson's well-publicized divorce. The album features guest spots from
members of Incubus, the Deftones and the Roots, as well as a cover of David
Bowie's "Fame." "The Methods of Mayhem record was like a full-on creative
free for all," Lee says of his first post-Crue project, a hip-hop/metal
album. "I'd just got out of Motley and I was like, 'Man I want to do every style of
music,' because I'm such a big fan of so many different styles. On this record there's
this common sort of modern rock thread that goes through it, where it's not so eclectic.
Because I think a lot of people were probably expecting one thing and getting another
[with the Methods album], they were like, 'Whoa, this is crazy!' Sometimes you can
lose your fans like that . . . You gotta break 'em in easy."
