Joe: Tommy, Can you give any insight to me...I'm a drummer, and when I play live and rehearse with
my band it sounds pretty tight,..We have even done some quicky recordings just for fun and the drumming is always right
on.....I get many compliments even from other drummers who are way more experienced than me... But when we are in the
REAL studio and laying down the REAL tracks, I freekin' mentally lock up... and play like a robot with really shitty
timing....I actually, almost start physically shaking.... Like really nervous....Was it like this for you in the early days
when you were recording... and how did you, or do you over come it....I listen to ALOT of Crue and you are one wickedly
tight drummer... Any help would be great..
Tommy: HEY JOE! THIS IS SOOOOOOO COMMON! IT HAPPENS TO THE BEST OF US!...........THE TRICK IS FOR THE PRODUCER OR WHOEVER IS RECORDING YOU .....IS ... NOT TELL YOU WHEN YOU ARE ACTUALLY RECORDING!! DO YOU REALLY NEED TO KNOW?? NO!! THE BEST PLAYING GOES DOWN WHEN YOUR FUCKIN AROUND RIGHT??...........WELL FUCK AROUND, AND HOPEFULLY YOUR PRODUCER OR ENGINEER HITS THE RECORD BUTTON WHEN YOU ARE UNAWARE OF IT..............TRUST ME! |
